Like Realities for Water

INT. SUBWAY CAR - NIGHT

SUKI is sitting near the back reading a comic book. MAX is two seats down wearing a cowboy hat and a t-shirt that declares "OLE". He is slumped down trying to catch a few winks. AKIMOTO is standing - he has an mp3 player and is listening to some tracks.

The subway car is zipping along many realities at the moment; mutants, dinosaurs, aliens, futuristic persons, hollywood stars, and the like all merge with each passing platform.

The train begins to slow down a little. AKIMOTO takes off his head phones and places the mp3 player down on a seat. SUKI closes the comic book and checks the Godhammer. Max straightens up and stretches. He takes the cowboy hat off and places it on the seat beside him.

BISHOP:
(voice over the intercom)
Arriving in destination in 1 minute.

The realities past the windows are slowing down, revealing full scenes. Our trio of heroes pay no mind to what is going on, all focusing on the stop. Getting up and walking towards the doors. Each of them taking a different doorway to the platform.

On the platform are myriads of human-looking beasts, drooling and dripping blood. They seem to be a mockery of humanity at it's worst.

MAX:
(whispering as he brings his guns up)
Showtime.

Like a Dove Amongst Ravens

Maggie stood and looked around; she was looking for something but couldn't remember what it was. She was sure that whatever it was that she was looking for was here.

She walked to the window and looked out and saw nothing but the blankness of space and time. She was trying to puzzle it together. Something was chiming and she couldn't tell what it was; it was the most annoying sound that she had ever heard.

"Maggie," a voice calls to her, carrying a hint of surprise.

Maggie turns to see the being made of energy, no features, no face, just a bright light of sorts.

"Are you okay?" the voice asks.

Maggie has something new growing inside her; she thinks it is fear. Is it fear? She doesn't know, but it's the first word that popped into her brain. The energy being steps towards her.

"Ain't you going to answer your cellphone?" the voice asks.

"Sell... fun?" Maggie said the last word; it sounded strange and foreign as if she was using her vocal chords for the first time.

"Maggie?" the energy being asked, stepping closer. "What's happening?"
MORGANFOKKER SAYS THAT IT IS INEVITABLE

As Warm as an Arctic Wind

Prime Minister Augustine Kendry stood in front of the window, her hands clasped behind her back. She stared out at the street below and smiled a warm smile, like a mother watching over a sleeping child.

If they only knew what they cannot truly see and feel.

She heard the side door to her office open but did not turn to see who entered. There was only a select few who knew of the secret passage to begin with.

"You are punctual," she said, still looking out the window.

"Well, when you've been summoned by a world leader one must see fit to attend," he replied.

"Let us cut to the chase on this one. Time, I think, is of the essence here," the Prime Minister said. She turned to face her guest. "There is something sinister in the works, and I need your team to do something about it."

"You know we aren't your dirty tricks squad," he replied.

"I know," she said with a slight smile, a hint of a real smile hidden in it somewhere. She reached for a envelope on the table and handed it to him.

"There's something going on in the northern regions, near Big Lake. A team of RCMP were sent in two days ago and nothing has been heard from them."

Max opened up the folder and began to scan the report, along with a few pictures. Max scrutinized one photo.

"I thought that would get your attention," she told him.

All This and a Glass of Water Too

"You mean to say... what we are doing, this traveling about, is like going to the beach?" Goner said. He stared at the glass of water on the table.

"Not going to the beach, but something akin to that," Max replied. He dropped his pen into the glass of water and moved it to the center of the table. "You see the refraction?"

Goner lay his head on the table and looked at the glass.

"See how the top sticks out and once you see inside you can see that the angle is different," Max continued. "The angle seems off and jutting off to one side. Now look at where the pen is inserted in the water. What do you see?"

"Bubbles," Goner said. "A lot of tiny bubbles."

"Do you see what I am getting at?" Max asked.

Goner's eyes widened as a new thought hit him.

The Meeting Place

Montana 1891

Maggie sat on the wagon and looked across the plains. They were out in the open with no cover for what appeared to be miles around. Billy jumped down from the buckboard and took a few steps away before he stretched. It was a long ride and he was tired.

"This doesn't feel right," Maggie stated. She made sure that her katana was close at hand.
"Well, he said he was going to meet us here," Billy said. He scanned the horizon as well. He kicked at the red-painted rock.

Maggie had an uneasy feeling in her stomach; she knew that there was trouble brewing. And whenever she got this feeling, it was more than likely to come true.
